Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that my good friend Melissa invited me to come see Mary Morrissey, Bob Proctor, Les Brown and many others here in La.  Paul Martinelli is here as well and this is an amazing time.

You may not know this but I’m in the middle of switching over careers and at a very important cross roads in my life.  And I’m strongly considering “chasing down my passion like it’s the last bus of the night.”  I don’t think I’m going to continue to play it safe.

Remember this… “there is no safe position in life; you can’t get out of life alive!  You have to die to leave here.” So what am I waiting for?  I’m definitely not going to wait ’till I die before I start to really live.  I mean we can die to our old self now so that we can be born again in this lifetime.

I too have to learn to step out of my comfort zone and die to my old self; so that I may live the life I was born to live.  That’s the ONLY way to fortune

Les Brown said last night, “step out of your head and into your potential.”  And I just wanted to leave that word with you this morning.

Bob Proctor once said, Do not permit old conditioning to prevent you from becoming everything you are capable of becoming, or from enjoying that which is your birthright.

One of my favorite quotes is by Abraham Maslow, “You will either step forward into GROWTH, or you will step back into SAFETY.”

The small diagram below takes you through the process of what people go through as they experience feelings of discomfort or a foreign vibration.  You see when we get emotionally involved with our HIGHER IDEAS, thoughts and self-images that are not in harmony with our present conditioning, we get a little uneasy.

It is this feeling of total discomfort you experience which causes you to want to step back into safety or what we call your “comfort zone”.  Click here if you want to learn how to overcome your comfort zone.

Now the comfort zone is natural and easy to fall back to because it is familiar.  The problem is that there is no GROWTH in familiar territories.  And in fact, the reason one would desire HIGHER IDEAS and self-images of themselves is because the thinking that has brought them thus far has created a set up problems that their current thinking can not solve.  The comfort zone therefore becomes a place of ’suffering.’  But it doesn’t have to be that way for you and I.

Most people fear the unknown. People have a hard time letting go of their suffering; out of fear of the unknown, so they prefer suffering that is familiar.  And they’ll move back into their comfort zone.

The irony is that ultimately we know deeply that the other side of FEAR is FREEDOM!! And that the other side of SUFFERING is JOY. Trust your intuition on this and use your WILL to break into freedom by deciding to step forward into GROWTH. You can see what your inner-enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.

My hope this year is to change my Lifestyle for the better.  I’m looking to make exponential gains in my business and I know the steps that will create that reality.  I remember a time when I was only making 20k-30k dollars per year.  But then in less than a year, I had taken my income up to over 80k and then the following year over 6 figures.  It’s not a bad deal that I have; in fact, it’s a pretty good one!  But I don’t have the time-freedom I’m truly looking for in life.  So I’m going to share with you my action steps that I’ve learned from the greatest thinkers and business icons out their in the industry that are helping me achieve both time and money freedom this year. This year I plan to make great, BIG changes in my business! This may strike people as “far fetched,” maybe even outrageous.  But when you take these leaps; as I have done in the past and continue to do now, it becomes very reasonable and quite explicable in retrospect.  So let me tell you; I plan to make as BIG a change in the next year in my business as I want to suggest that you make in yours.  GO FOR THE TOP and I promise you that a year from now you’ll need a telescope to look back to see where you’ve been.  Now everything is relative, I learned that a long time ago.  But take a moment right now and look below! In the previous post I talked about how to create a MasterMind group and gave you specific guidelines to help you make calls to others to join your mastermind group.  Now, there is another important part you need to know when building your mastermind team.  All the great industrialist, thinkers, capitalist and modern day icons of business understand this idea and now I’m sharing it with you.  And that is that you need “Specialized Knowledge” to advance in life, especially if you want to reach your monetary goals.

In fact, there is an entire chapter on it in Napoleon Hill’s book that I’m going to recommend you read on “Specialized Knowledge” to increase your understanding of its impact and significance on your life.  In the chapter on Specialized Knowledge, Hill points out “if you’re going to reach your monetary goals, you have to have specialized knowledge.  Otherwise, you’re not going to reach it.”  Now when you first read this, you may find it a little disheartening because you may not have any specialized knowledge.

But about 4 or 5 paragraphs down, he let’s you off the hook.  He points out that you don’t have to have it?  He says the accumulation of great fortunes calls for ‘power’ and ‘power’ is acquired through “HIGHLY organized” and intelligently directed specialized knowledge.  But the one who accumulates the wealth doesn’t have to have the knowledge.  And he uses Andrew Carnegie as an example.

Andrew Carnegie was the wealthiest man in the world at the time and he made his riches in the steel industry.  And Carnegie said that “he knew nothing about steel.  And he said that he wasn’t inclined to learn anything about it.”  He said he got all the aid he needed in that area through the help of his mastermind group.

So if you don’t have a MasterMind group I want you to sit down and think of 5 or 6 people who are really sharp, I mean a very smart mind.  And then you say, “I’m going to pick one of them to start a mastermind group with.”  And then the two of you get together and pick another one.  And you do this until you have 5,6,7 or 8 people.  If you go beyond 8 that’s probably too many.  If you’re going to make it happen in a Big way then you’re going to have to have specialized knowledge.

How to Assemble a MasterMind

Choose people who are already where you’d like to be in your life– or who are at least a level above you.  The truth is many people at a higher level will want to become involved simply because they then get to play at a game they might never organize for themselves.  The other people you’re going to invite are people they would like to be around, too.

The fact is that most people are not in mastermind alliances.  And if you can start one they’d like to be involved with, they’ll let you in and open a whole new world for you.

While you may not get Warren Buffet or Bill Gates, you could probably get the major real estate developer in town.  Or you could probably get a business owner.  Or maybe get the publisher of the local newspaper.  But you won’t know until you ask.

So star with your list and work down.  Maybe you’ll end up with a local columnist instead of the publisher- someone who might be a lot more helpful to you in the long-run.  If your goals are centered around a specific subject like starting a new business or investing money, you might start a mastermind group centered around entrepreneurship or investments.

The point of the mastermind is very simple, it’s an alliance built of two or more minds working actively together in perfect harmony toward a common definite object, [goal or task].  Napoleon Hill

There are two important things you have to learn to do if you’re going to do anything of any real significance.  One is that you must be “on purpose”!  I mean you have to have a burning desire to fulfill some God-created need or passion.  And the other is that you must mastermind.

To help you make calls asking experts and others to join your mastermind group, start with a script that will help you stay focused and talk about the benefits and value the group will have in your prospect’s life if they would participate.

I used this script having learned it from Jack Canfield. I must admit, my delivery was not the best put I tried. Now I have a couple of masterminds and I’m part of a few that I pay into as well.

Example:

Hi, David.  My name is Katie Silver.

I’m a business owner for an international logistic center that services clients all over the world.  We specifically help build large construction projects such as the 8.5 billion dollar City Center in Las Vegas, NV by supplying them tools and supplies that they need to get the job done.  Though I’m just starting out, I’ve gotten some interest from a number of people in forming a mastermind group that would help us access new resources and discover new solutions and perspectives that we probably haven’t thought of before.

I especially wanted you to be in the group.  I believe you’d get a lot of value out of it and I’m not sure that you have your own mastermind group yet.  Can I put you down on my list?

The group would meet every other week to brainstorm on each other’s challenges.  We can do it in person, or the group might decide to meet by phone instead.

If you could have 5-6 other prominent CEO’s working on your company’s challenges or even your personal ones, would that be something you would set aside an hour a week for?  Charles Starr has already agreed to be involved.  I’m not sure if you know him.

PS. Next I’ll be showing you how to pick members of your mastermind.  This step is a little more difficult for most people because it does require courage to step outside of your comfort zone (just a little bit) to give yourself a chance to open a whole new world up to you

Hello there and welcome, this is Charles Starr.  I want to share something I’m studying and doing with you.  There is this little book called you² and there is a particular part here that I think fits a perfect New Year Resolution suggestion message that I’m looking at doing right now and hopefully you are too.

Do you know that I’m going into my second year of teaching this material?  It’s been a phenomenal year, might I add.  But I want to make a suggestion to you; Right Now.  I suggest that you mark your calendar today; and say “between now and a year from today, I’m going to do something beyond anything I have ever done before.”  Now you know in Price Pritchett’s book you squared, he’s saying here that most people operate with a mindset that assumes success comes one step at a time.  The unspoken but popular notion is that we must move systematically from our present level of achievement to the next.  Then the thinking goes from that stage we can begin working towards gradually moving to the next higher level.  Now he said this is an unfortunate misconception.  Now he goes on to point out that this isn’t how we have to go at all.  We can make GREAT changes in our lives.

Your life simply does not always have to operate in a linear fashion.  Now the fact that almost everybody does live that way doesn’t mean that you and I have to.  Let me break this point down to you.

Many of us go at a measured pace, step-by-step from where you are.  It feels easier, more natural and even safer.  But he said in certain areas of your life you can just as easily think in terms of skipping levels.  Now you can do that over the next year.

I am going to do it over the next year.  I’ve already made up my mind about that.  The decision has been made and that’s what I’m going to do.  Now he said, “make the quantum leap.”  And he talks about u²

Now I was listening to Mary Morissey the other day and she was talking about her little granddaughter being taught numbers and her mother took an apple and she put it down and then she said 1 apple.  And then she put another apple down and she said 1 apple, 2 apples.  Then she put another down and she said 1 apple, 2apple, 3 apple and she did this until she had 5—1,2,3,4,5 apples.  And so the little girl learned 5.  Now she said if she kept going she could teach the little girl that 5+5+5+5+5= would make 25.   And if we stopped there, the little girl would think that the only way to get to 25 is with 5 groups of 5.  But we didn’t stop there when we were learning.  We can get there with ‘only’ 2 Fives if we draw an “x” in between it.  Mmmm, I thought that isn’t that a neat concept?  I mean, we can get to twenty-five with 2-fives just drop an “x” in between the 2-fives.  But she said that we can even get there with “1” five by putting a little “2” beside the five and Square it.

I thought that’s pretty interesting!!  Now what Prichett is suggesting is that we do that with ourselves.  We know that if we’re going to Square 5 then we’re going to multiply it by 5.  Well what about u²?  Now he said “this implies an explosive jump, a real breakthrough in your personal performance that puts you far beyond the next logical step.  It’s a formula for stunning advancements and achievement and the realization of your dreams.”  Now he said “the concept is one of exponential gains rather than one of incremental progress.  You could compare it to multiplying instead of adding.  It means a geometric progression in your effectiveness.”  Now he says that that’s not only exciting it’s very provocative.  But it gets even better.  He said remember that quantum leaps can come without apparent effort.  He says that these high-velocity moves can carry you to dramatically higher levels of performance without time consuming struggle.  Well you know that I bought into that idea a long time ago.

The bottom line is that it takes no more effort to aim HIGH in life, to demand abundance and prosperity than is required to accept misery and poverty.  If you’re one of those people who believe that hard work and honesty alone will bring riches; he said, perish the thought.  It’s not true.  Riches when they come; or if they come when they come, they come in response to definite demands based upon the application of definite principles and not by chance or luck.

Well that’s what we’re attempting to do here in C. Starr’s Secret to the Game in 2010- to get these principles across to you.  A quantum leap in your performance seem to violate common sense utterly.  The idea of moving to a higher orbit, skipping rings on the achievement ladder in the process strikes people as “far fetched,” maybe even outrageous.

But if you’ve ever taken a ‘leap’; a quantum leap, after the fact it seems to be an obvious and practical move.  But these leaps typically do not come to you as obvious moves at the moment.  Usually it’s in retrospect that we perceive their hidden logic and elegance.  Invariably, quantum leaps are not complex or intricate maneuvers.  They seem to be simple, energy efficient in time savings and quite effective.

So what’s the point?  Here is the point!  I suggested that you mark on your calendar today and say “that a year from today that you’ll need a telescope to look back and to see where you were.”  I’m suggesting that you just don’t take incremental steps.  I want to suggest that you take a quantum leap.  It’s like Pritchett said, “multiplying rather than adding.”  Now that’s exactly what I did performance-wise over this past year.  I mean I literally took a logistic’s operation from being last place to being first place in all of North America in little less than a year.  And now with 2010, my income is going right through the roof with multiple sources of income.

So let me tell you, I plan to make as BIG a change in the next year in my business as I want to suggest that you make in yours.  Remember that everything is relative; but at whatever level you’re on, I want to suggest that you take a quantum leap.  Don’t go for step-by-step progress.  GO FOR THE TOP!

Now you’ll have disappointments along the way.  You’re going to have people that are going to disappoint you.  People that you believe in are going to leave you hanging.  And it will hurt, but you don’t let it stop you!  People will say things about you that aren’t true and it will bother you.  But don’t let it bother you for a long time!  Kick it out of your mind.  The economy will go sideways; it always has.  But that’s not going to stop you either!

When Dr. Werner Von Braun was asked by President John Kennedy, “what would it take to build a rocket that would carry a man to the moon and bring him back safely to earth?”– Dr. Von Braun answered him in 5 words—“the will to do it!”  Now I’ve learned regardless of all the things that may be going on in your life right now, “what will it take in order for you to take that quantum leap in the next year in 2010?”–  The answer is “the will to do it.”  That’s it!!!  There is nothing complicated about it… it only takes the will to do it.

Mark your calendar and make your decision and GO FOR IT!!!

I want to introduce you to the stick person concept. It really is the foundational principle for all of our LifeSuccess Consultant seminars and all of our teachings. We think in pictures. The image that we hold in our subconscious mind really controls the vibration that we’re in, which ultimately controls the results in our lives that we attract. As you begin to think of what you want to be, how you want to live, what it is that you want to achieve. The clearer the picture that you have the more order and less confusion that there will be.

The below picture; believe it or not, is a graphical illustration of the “Mind”. Click on it for a more detailed explanation. But let me explain where the image came from. This picture was developed by Dr. Thurman Fleet back in 1934. Bob Proctor then refined it. But Doctor Fleet was the founder of the concept therapy movement. Now as he began working with his patients he realized that in order for them to really heal physically, it was important that they had a true understanding of who they were as a whole human being that… “that they were a spiritual being, gifted with an intellect, living in a physical body.” And it was the proper use of these intellectual faculties that would really help Dr. Fleet heal his patients. So he created what we refer to as the Stick Person.
