The Terror Barrier

Bob Proctor once said, Do not permit old conditioning to prevent you from becoming everything you are capable of becoming, or from enjoying that which is your birthright.
One of my favorite quotes is by Abraham Maslow, “You will either step forward into GROWTH, or you will step back into SAFETY.”
The small diagram below takes you through the process of what people go through as they experience feelings of discomfort or a foreign vibration. You see when we get emotionally involved with our HIGHER IDEAS, thoughts and self-images that are not in harmony with our present conditioning, we get a little uneasy.
It is this feeling of total discomfort you experience which causes you to want to step back into safety or what we call your “comfort zone”. Click here if you want to learn how to overcome your comfort zone.
Now the comfort zone is natural and easy to fall back to because it is familiar. The problem is that there is no GROWTH in familiar territories. And in fact, the reason one would desire HIGHER IDEAS and self-images of themselves is because the thinking that has brought them thus far has created a set up problems that their current thinking can not solve. The comfort zone therefore becomes a place of ’suffering.’ But it doesn’t have to be that way for you and I.
Most people fear the unknown. People have a hard time letting go of their suffering; out of fear of the unknown, so they prefer suffering that is familiar. And they’ll move back into their comfort zone.
The irony is that ultimately we know deeply that the other side of FEAR is FREEDOM!! And that the other side of SUFFERING is JOY. Trust your intuition on this and use your WILL to break into freedom by deciding to step forward into GROWTH. You can see what your inner-enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you.
Proceed to the higher level and fear will leave you; it always does as the conditioning changes. To find out more about this, I highly encourage you to invest in my GOAL ACHIEVER or WINNER’S IMAGE PROGRAM

The terror barrier seems very real but it’s just a figment of our imagination.
It’s a blockage, and all blockages are self-created. Our fears are acquired. You were born without limiting beliefs and remain without limiting beliefs until people introduce you to limiting beliefs.
As you stated the toughest part is to blast through the terror barrier. Repeated acts of courage help to do this. An even more effective yet subtle way to remove blockages is to meditate. When sitting quietly your subconscious beliefs tend to arise. This is because the conscious mind prefers to submerge these thoughts and feelings because they are uncomfortable to experience.
When meditating the conscious mind shuts it yapping mouth and the subconscious is free to reveal itself. Deep fears arise, can be observed, and then let go. When a feeling is let go it no longer has any power over you.
Great insight.
I agree with you about the unknown. People do not step out of their comfort zone due to fear of failure. Everyone does not embrace change, but in order to grow you must change. It is like a plant, you have to constantly change the pot it is in for it to grow. If it remains in the same pot, there is no room for growth and it starts to wither and die.
Wow, very well said Cheryl! I really like it; thanks for sharing with us.
I noticed that you were reading Zig Ziglar this past Sunday and so I wanted to share a quote with you from him. “Success is the doing, not the getting; in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be. If we do our best, we are a success. Success is the maximum utilization of the ability that you have.” — Zig Ziglar
I want to personally thank you for inspiring me to do more, dream more and become more!
You’re a very wise man, Ryan.
To your point, when we showed up in this world, we showed up from a tiny little drop of human protoplasm, a speck, and everything that was in that little speck that became us was in that tiny little speck. In other words, everything that ‘is’… ‘was’ already there in the beginning. And everything that “will be”… IS NOW.
So according to Dr. Wayne Dyer, the first nine months of our life, from the moment of our conception to the moment of our birth, we find that everything we ever needed was already there. But then when we come into this world, we use our conscious thinking mind and say, “ok God, I have it from here.” It is at that point, we begin to introduce limiting beliefs into our lives. It is at this point that we begin to Edge God Out/ E.G.O. (we form our EGO). And it seems we spend a lifetime closing the gap of that separation between us and God.
In the final analysis, especially when we speak about ‘Crossing the Terror Barrier’, we must recognize that “God’s gift to us is more talent and ability than we’ll ever hope for in a lifetime. Our gift to God is to develop as much of that talent and ability in this lifetime.” I think crossing the terror barrier illustrates the process and movement back to God and oneness to Source.
Thanks for your insight, it’s very informative. Feel free to post the link to your ebook or website.
